Josh and Stasia’s wedding was exactly the type of wedding day I would love to shoot every weekend. Not for any particular detail, or because of the gorgeous orchard that their wedding took place on; but because this day focused on their love, looked forward to the future and wasn’t spoiled by idolized expectations of being royalty for a day, aside from riding a cow train. Their love didn’t seem to me like it had anything to do with the glamorized idea that somehow all of the other’s weaknesses were totally perfected the instant they said, “I do.”

Yet the day was noble. They never rose to a panic over a hitch in plans. Everyone in attendance for their small ceremony promised to be in it with them, for the long haul. They made a decision to greet each and every loved one who was able to make it as they arrived. One even came all the way from Bavaria, Germany. His name was Klaus, and he wore Lederhosen. We had fresh donuts for cake, craft beer for wine, and bratwursts with an apple relish for the standard chicken and mashed potatoes dinner.

Then there was a bonfire that left a small amount of scorched earth about 3-4 feet around the fire pit, accompanied by really, really good scotch.

Josh and Stasia, never forget to laugh at yourselves, and selflessly try to hear each other’s viewpoint no matter how wrong they are. They always deserve your respect.

And finally know that you are loved,

P.S. To get the full scoop on their wedding day, head to my Facebook page to see some more of this awesome day, some pretty swanky details as well!

P.P.S. The wedding took place at Apple Jack Orchards in Delano, MN. The guys got ready at Chambers hotel. Friends and loved ones helped with everything. Tim Ho was there taking photos with giant film cameras, he did an amazing job. Stay tuned, I will add some of those photos here in the next few days.

Nerdy note: These photos were processed with VSCO Film. It’s not just a film emulator. It helps create a slight abstraction that allows our memory to remember things in the best way possible, reminds the viewer of the intangible expression of their memory. We all long for transcendence, I think that weddings are the beginning of a picture of that in this life.
