Every so often, prayers are answered in such a direct and powerful way it leaves you breathless.  This was one of those times.

A few weeks ago I went to a meeting of photographers to collaborate on a project to support local business’. (Still waiting to post those photos after hearing back from submissions!!)  Out of that I met so many amazing people, had the opportunity to do a mini shoot of my own!!!  Some of them are past clients, some family and friends, others are new friends.  One of the people who was part of that first shoot was Carly from Girl Friday.  She is one of the most humble, sweet and generous people I have met in this industry, and I’m blown away by it. I feel like I need to put 100 exclamation points after that so you know how sincerely I mean that, but sometimes understating things is better. (Aw shoot I blew my cover!) Without her approaching me to do something like this I don’t know if I would have had the guts. She says she saw something in me, and I’m glad she did because I can’t wait to do another one and really try to push the limits! There’s something about having creative control over every aspect that really allows me to develop the visual language for my craft, I feel like this shoot was a huge step forward for me. I have a new sense of direction for where I want things to go next and can’t wait to share the results!

We all got in early in the morning, enjoyed some home brewed Dogwood Coffee (what else, right?) and my mom made the most amazing oven baked french toast to share. Throughout the day we dealt with snow, tight timelines, traffic, warmed up in my apartment and had more of that awesome fresh baked deliciousness.  Strangely enough, one of my biggest stresses before the shoot was being a good host to all the people who were giving of their time so freely. I wanted them to feel at home, to have a good time. I think I succeeded there, I also felt really good about that.  Most of all I am astonished by the amazing work of all the creative artists, and the unending charisma and energy of the couple and the models we worked with. It was such an awesome day!
